taking my truck mudding?

ive got a Toyota FJ Cruiser, is it top heavy and is it ok to take mudding? i really dont want to tear anything up so is it ok to go mudding?

I would invest in some mud tyres in the future if you are going to this alot.
They will get u outta trouble most times.

can you convert a 2wd transmission to a 4wd transmission?

I don’t know very much about transmissions. I was wondering if you could take an LS1 and the manual 4L60E transmission out of a corvette and convert it to a 4wd transmission by adding a transfer case to use in a mudding truck. If not, how do you find a 4wd transmission to fit an LS1.

You can, but you need to do some modifications to the transmission.

You need to disassemble the transmission and replace the output shaft. You will also need to replace the tail shaft housing with a transfer case adapter.

GM Used the 4L60E in their full size 4WD trucks and SUVs. So you could get a donor transmission from one of these vehicles and transfer what you need into your LS1 4L60E Vette transmission.

I just bought a 78 Ford F-150 stepside shortbed mud truck to pull whats a tough rear end?

It has a 300 inline six that im taking out after this season to put in a 460 whats a rear end thst will hold up with both motors

Your truck will have a 9-inch ford rear end factory but you will need to pull an axle and count the splines they were available as a 31 spline or a 28 spline both are tough but the 31 spline is a tougher axle, people often believe all trucks were equipped with 31-spline rear ends the problem is that if Ford ran into a supply problem during production they would swap the 28 splines and never change the build sheets this was common until the mid 80's,if you want more a lot of f-250s had Dana 60's under them, and if you can find a f-350 Camper Special many had floating axle Dana 70's.I like the engine swap and any of these rear ends will take the abuse pretty well.
