The winner is determined by the length of time it takes to get down into and then back out of the length of the trench while avoiding becoming stuck. There are sometimes obstacles within the trench and those standing on the sides watching the action say that it’s quite exciting to watch.

When it comes to this ever-growing sport known colloquially as mud boggin, it’s important to realize that driver skill and quality of truck is paramount. Make sure any truck to be used in the sport has a very strong engine as well as a good four-wheel drive system and that the truck itself has been lift-kitted such that its very large tires and wheels can get it into and out of the trench quickly.
