After getting my truck stuck in the mud last night, my ‘10 tundra will only run for about a mile before the radio and air shut off followed by a rough idle and the truck turning off. about an hour later it will repeat the process. any ideas?

You might have sucked up mud into the intake. If your maf sensor gets too dirty it will cause your truck to shut off as you described.

im black and im 19 male and i go mudding with my f150 and sometimes i just drive my truck with mudd on it dirty but i like it and people tell me oh you think your white or something. don’t other races do this besides whites? i think its fun to lift your truck and fix it up and go mudding instead of riding big rims always cleaning everyday wasting time on a vehicle

I have a 2001 Chevy S10 ZR2 and i really like mudding. Im not very smart when it comes to truck and car stuff and since im a girl i don’t think ill learn very soon lol. If you have suggestions for me on how to make my truck amazing for mudding please share

The ZR2 package on the S-10 was the "off-road" package that Chevy offered from the factory, so already it’s a good starting point. The question then comes to: how much money are you willing to spend? A big body lift and suspension lift, coupled with bigger and beefier tires will do the trick, but the cost will out value the truck. My starting point would be: bigger tires, check how big you can go legally and also how far you can go with your stock suspension. If you want more, then go to a body lift and even more, to a suspension lift. All this stuff is very expensive, and even more so if someone else is doing the work.

Work out what you want and set a budget for the build. Don’t go overboard! It’s very easy to say: Well, this is better and it’s not to much more expensive. Also, when you go mudding, things break and it will be costly to run to the mechanic for every little thing. You must ask yourself if you are prepared to spend that much money on your truck in order to have fun. Is it worth it? Because you will not get that money back when you sell it.

daughter is currently 9 months old, l her dad(my bf) bought a mud truck so they ‘can have somthing to do that both of them will enjoy’ he says that there are front facing carseats made for going off road and mudding. I don’t think it’s safe for a 1year old to be doing that. The truck better have a cage or sumthing to protect her of they flip or something

First off, no forward facing before 1 year and 20lbs, it’s illegal to do anytime before that. Secondly, the longer your daughter is rear facing the safer she’ll be. Third, as long as she is properly restrained in her car seat that is installed correctly and he doesn’t drive like a moron where he can flip the truck( which would mean you’d need to replace the car seat) he can take her for a drive.

but, is it safe for the truck?
you can just start mudding with a stock truck? should I buy guard gaps?

obviously, I am lifting it and adding mud tires…but what about the engine, transmission…ect

its all ok? or should I add some parts to eat….stuff like that ect…

Stock and other than the usual bolt ons you aren’t sure right? Ok first I think your "hobby" will fast become a nightmare and the parts guys will love you. The truck will be overworked from manufacturer’s idea of what it was meant to do, causing trans. and engine stress and overheat. If you like the idea of always having your wallet open to fix it…go ahead and good luck; me I’d have more respect for what it was really meant to do.

i have been searching by road and by the intrnet but cant seem to find any mudding spots or offroad parks around this area i keep seeing peoples trucks and jeeps caked in mud but never get the chane to talk to them.

I live in NJ. It is FREEZING. We had snow on Monday and Wednesday. We got 6 days off from school!!!

If i was to convert my 2003 7.3 diesel to a mudding truck what some good things to do, Besides a 8inch lift and some new rooms and tires?

Growing up in Florida and 4X4ing in areas that if you get stuck and don’t get out in a short period of time you could loose your truck forever. I would suggest to you to have a winch that can be used front and rear. It would connect by way of receiver hitch. This way you are not forced to pull yourself out through what you are already stuck in. Having a receiver hitch on both ends of the truck allows you to use a nap strap that will be centered in the frame and then there’s no chance of snapping your frame out of true. If you snap from one frame rail all the time it will pull it out of true. Replace the motor cooler fan with electric one so you won’t throw mud and water all over the engine when you get in deep and you can turn them back on right after. Compressor to re-inflate your tires after muding and it’s used to pump air under the truck when it is stuck to break the suction for easier removal. You don’t need extra light because if you can actually use them then you are not muding hard enough. Lockers front and rear will help. Snorkel kit and above bed exhaust pipe to keep it out of the water and mud.

i have a 95′ toyota reg. cab pickup. 4 cyl. its not a 4×4. its rear wheel drive and has 230,000 miles on it. i really want a mudding truck something to take off road. should i just buy a cheap 4×4? is there anything i can do to give it more power or is that just dumb?

It would probally be better off to find a 4×4 that has a v8 in it. While the frame of your truck is good enough for it, the 4cyl engine and the 4×2 won’t be able to handle it(not enough power to get out if stuck). Try to look for a old chevy, ford, or dodge full size truck with a v8, 4×4.
