Are there energy efficient all wheel or four wheel drive vehicles?

I live in the mountains and drive on dirt roads. I need a vehicle with good ground clearance and either all wheel drive or four wheel drive. Everything out there seems to be a gas guzzler. Any suggestions.

have a look at the lexus hybrids. go onto the website and look for the RX range. i dunno if you know but a hybrid is basically a car that is run partly on a self charging battery. only at lot speeds though, so it depends how fast your going to be going. also they are quite pricey, i dunno what your budget is.

    hope that helps

You could get a truck/SUV that has a diesel motor and make your own bio diesel. The costs for it to make are around 70-75 cents per gallon and it has a zero net carbon output.
