im getting a 1990 dodge ram is it a good truck?
im gettin a 1990 dodge ram with a 5.9 v-8 4x4in it and i was just wondering if its a good truck.i just wanna turn it around into a mud truck.
It’s a 20 year old truck. I have no way of knowing what shape it’s in. It’s a good design for a mud truck because it has a solid front axle which makes it easy to lift without affecting the front end alignment. The 360 is a good motor. In 1990 it had a throttle body fuel injection which is not as good as the newer multipoint injection but it is reliable. Fuel economy will be terrible.

It’s as good as it’s previous owner treated it, they are fine trucks, tough, I prefer GM over Dodge and Ford. But if it works for you go for it. People’s ideas of what are good trucks are what keeps those three brands in business.

It’s a 90. It’s got an engine that just won’t wear out. tbi, roller cam and double roller timing chain, and still has an iron intake that are not known for having gasket problems as often as aluminum intakes. I had a couple tbi 318′s and 360′s. Runners. Bypass the vacuum disconnect on front end so it stays engaged, as long as you’re making a beast out of it.

the early 90,s model trucks was real good trucks and a lot easier to work on than the newer ones are, and they do hold up really well, the only thing that needs to be done to them is change the timing chain at least every 150 thousand miles on them and they will last a long time,i own a 93 model that is doing real good for what it is and its got well over two hundred thousand on it,its on it second timing chain and had two transmissions put in it as of last year, both my fault though for pulling too much weight with it,good luck.
