Your friends and coworkers may have a dirty secret that you don’t know about. They may be going out to strange places on the weekends and doings things that would leave you feeling slimy if you were to do them. They may be hanging out with people who are only out for having a good time and don’t care how far they have to go to find it. You may not know it but your acquaintances may be hiding a secret so big that it only will fit in their garage. They may own a mudding 4×4 and spend all their free time tearing up the countryside slinging mud and getting dirty, not to mention having the time of their life.

When mudding the most enjoyable thing about it is of course making a dirty, slimy grimy mess out of yourself and your companions, but to really enjoy the thrill you need to have a truck that can take the abuse that the mud pit is going to throw at it. You need a truck that is durable and reliable and most of all one that you don’t care to much about the looks of.

When you go looking for a truck to use for mudding the first thought might be to borrow one from a friend (bad idea) or to buy the biggest, meanest and loudest truck you can find in the newspaper (also bad idea). The truth is that the best mud trucks are the ones that you might not think about. The reason is simple. These trucks were built with racing in mind, and that means that they have all the best features that you would want in a mud truck. These features include a great suspension system, a powerful engine and a excellent torque conversion ratio. They also can be easily lifted and the smaller size makes for easier handling in the pit.

Of course you also need to make sure that you can get the mud out of the truck as easily as you got it into the truck. One suggestion is to replace the trucks seat with a hard plastic bench style seat. You might also want to accommodate easier clean up by drilling some water drain holes in the floor board as well as the bed. These changes will allow you to easily spray the inside of the truck out with a high power hose when the day is done.

Safety is of course important. Please remember that you will be driving a very powerful vehicle at a very high rate of speed though a boggy, slick, and wet mass. You need to make sure that you have adequate restraints in place such as five point harnesses just in case things get a little out of control.

If things do get a little out of control and you find yourself waist deep in mud with a stuck truck, you have 3 choices. First you could call a very expensive tow truck; second you could look like a total wimp and have to beg your friends to use their trucks to get you out; or third you could just throw a line around the nearest thing that weighs more than your truck and crank up your winch. Having a winch installed on the front or in the bed of the truck will allow you to pull yourself out of any jam that you find yourself in.

The pleasure of owning a mudding 4×4 is unsurpassed, There is just something so simple and joyous about getting down and dirty in the mud with your truck. If you have never been, find a person who goes and tag along, if you have been before then what you are waiting for, get yourself a mud truck and get into on the fun for yourself. As much fun as it is as a passenger its even better behind the wheel!

A mudding 4×4 is a great way to kill time and blow off a little steam after a hard week. The fun begins when you own your own mudding 4×4, next time you go out get behind the wheel of your own mud bogging truck.
