Fun, Friends, And Collecting Model Scale Cars
When it comes to hobbyists, some folks may never be quite as fanatical as automobile enthusiast. Cars are such a deeply valued aspect of modern culture that entire genres of community have grown up around them. One such group is collecting model scale cars.
These cars are exactly what they sound like, scaled won versions of their real world counterparts. The sizes do vary, but the craftsmanship in this little wonders is astounding in many cases. They have doors that open and close, working lights, beeping horns, and even engines that can run! It is no wonder they are so fascinating to some.
If you, or someone you love, are into this hobby, what are some ways to expand it to even higher levels of enjoyment? The fist idea is to share the hobby with others. Perhaps you can take up digital photography as a means to posting your treasures online for all to see. You could stage all kinds of interesting scenes, road races and the like, and post them on you web site or blog for your fans.
Creating clubs for like minded individuals is always fun to do. Run some simple ads in the appropriate newspapers and simply set up a time to sit around and talk shop! You can work on the model cars together, give each other pointers and tips, and basically just show off your great collections.
Speaking of showing off, how about shows for enthusiasts? Like regular car shows, you can have judging for prizes, like best custom, best restoration, best paint, best detailing, and the list goes on. This would be a great and fun way to take the cars out on the road, from town to town. Best of all, you can do it in less space than a full sized sedan would take up!
Thinking about sharing tips and pointers, you could design an e-zine or a nice little mailer with these items in it. If it became popular enough you could sell subscriptions. Everybody likes a little bit of help now and then, and a newsletter is always welcome news to a hobbyist. You can also use them for advertising collectibles for sale and trade, and for promoting the latest shows and club meetings.
A very nice thing to do with your collection is to create a nice way to display them. Quality display cases, with glass fronts and interior lights and such, can be a beautiful addition to any home. If you are handy with building as well as with your cars, you could build and sell them to others at the shows, in the paper, and so forth. Every labor of love could use a good display station.
All of these ideas can overlap and help support each other. With the tools available today, you can be a veritable one person show when collecting model scale cars. Get together with your car buddies, show off and share, get some good work done, enjoy the special camaraderie that occurs between kindred spirits, and display proudly what you enjoy most.

Truck Mud Flaps
One of the most common accessories that are used by a truck or a car is a truck mud flap. This is mostly made of rubber and in the olden days was mostly black. The truck mud flap was and is still used to protect the vehicle from what the road throws back at it while driving, things such as dirt and debris. Even today people use it for the same purpose but it no longer is just another boring black color accessory hanging from the back of your vehicle.
One of the most well-renowned truck mud flaps for a long time has been the Mud flap girl. It is a silhouette of a female with a huge bosom who is leaning back with her hair blowing in the wind. This iconic figure which one must have surely seen on a truck mud flap was created by Bill Zinda for her company in California. This Mud flap girl figure was inspired by the then famous exotic dancer Leta Laroe.
Some of the other popular truck mud flap images also include a number of Disney characters such as Daffy Duck, Tweety the bird and one of the most popular of all, Yosemite Sam holding his guns and asking other drivers to ‘Back Off.’
People use a number of different things to decorate or express themselves via their truck mud flaps. Some people use pictures of those they love, name or logo of their favorite sports team or even a political logo.
Marketers have also found a way to use truck mud flaps as a way to advertise their products or services. A number of different companies have attached their logos, contact numbers or even product pictures on a number of their company cars and vans. This method has proven to be extremely effective and that is why even today you will truck mud flaps with a marketing logo on it.
Apart from all the stylish uses of truck mud flaps the most basic is to protect your vehicle. They not only stop any debris or dust but also avoid any splatter marks which could ruin the paint on your vehicle. This is of great help as when you are cleaning your truck it only requires a good spraying to give it a brand new look.
Truck mud flaps have come a long way since their introduction in the car market. Today one can find truck mud flaps in two materials, rubber and metal sheets. Rubber is something that has been used for a long time but metal sheets are one of the latest introductions in this market and are available in steel and aluminum. The metal sheets are far better in terms of performance compared to their rubber counterparts and are far more effective in blocking dirt, debris and splatter however, the one disadvantage is that it can get stuck in soft ground.

How To Remove Truck Stickers
Some people experience stages where they think that attaching stickers to a vehicle is fashionable, and a cool way to articulate some opinions or personal beliefs. Nevertheless, as soon as they begin to lose color, split, or fall apart, we want to be rid of them. Just peeling them away is never as simple as sticking them on them seemed to be, and can leave unattractive bits and pieces that cheapen the truck. This article will go over a few simple ways to remove truck stickers.
In a very few cases, you can just peel the sticker off the same as it was put on, without any need for additional help. In most cases, though, at a minimum you will need something like WD-40 to get rid of the mess on your bumper, back windshield, or tailgate. Do not try to keep peeling if the sticker is on there really good, you will only make a bigger mess. If the spray lubricant is not working, try another step instead.
Treat a bumper sticker like you would a wall covered with wallpapering. A very hot and soapy washcloth or towel can be held on the sticker for about thirty seconds to help the glue loosen up, then gently start peeling the sticker away from the area. You may have to use tongs or another utensil to hold the cloth on the sticker if it is really hot. If this does not work, do not give up, there are other options.
Try using a plastic scraper (or spatula) to pry an end up, and then use a blow dryer to soften the glue that attaches the sticker. Carry on with the heat during the peeling process, and it should work with no trouble. This is often the best option for newer stickers.
By no means should you attempt to use a metal object to scrape the sticker. This includes razor blades or knives, because they usually result in terrible scratches and scuff marks. Make sure you utilize a tool that does not scrape the metal, such as a plastic spatula, or a putty knife encased in duct tape.
If the decal is already washed out past the point of identification or is peeling little by little on its own, use a gentle cloth soaked with rubbing alcohol to get rid of the rest. The type that works best cleans your sunglasses too, but soak it in the rubbing alcohol to soften any glue still left on the sticker/bumper.
After the sticker is gone, you will want to shine up the bumper where it was at, and remove any light scratches left from the removal process. For this, you just need a nice polishing compound and some normal car wax. Buff the area, and wax as normal. If the sticker was on a window, use some window cleaner, or take the vehicle through a car washing station.
You can actually add a very small amount of value to a vehicle by removing those old expressions of your personality. If you bought the car used, it may not even be your personality expressed on the truck. Taking off the stickers can be a great way to make a used vehicle feel more new to the person buying it as well.

The Proper Towbar for Your Vehicle
The vast network of highways and roadways that crisscross the country attract countless motorists out onto the pavement every year, many of them yearning for some adventure or thrill just on the other side of the horizon. It is with that notion of adventure that many people end up choosing to bring with them as much of their possessions (or at least the necessary ones) as possible.
In that sense, many drivers choose to have a towbar installed in their car, which makes it possible to tow a trailer or other vehicles and thereby bring along the maximum amount of items with them on the road.
To properly tow a trailer, it is necessary to have a standard and strong towbar, also known as a tow hitch, installed that can deal with heavy loads and ensure that the vehicle and the trailer move in relative synchrony, preventing excessive disarticulation between the movements of each.
Not just any old towbar fits that bill, which is why it is important to check industry standards and get the advice of a professional before deciding what sort of hitch to get installed in your car and/or what size/weight of a trailer to hitch to it.
There are two general categories of towbar: some have a tow ball propped on top of a tow bracket while others involve a tow pin and its corresponding tow jaw that latch onto a trailer loop. It is important to understand that the first variety mentioned provides for better coordination between the vehicle and trailer in motion, though in the case of the latter variety this result can be obtained to some degree by slackening the pin.
What is known as a receiver-type towbar is a version that has a detachable tow ball, while on the other hand a fixed-type towbar usually will have tow ball and other components incorporated directly into the vehicle’s frame. In both cases, the towbar is connected directly to the chassis, which permits the driver to tow a heavier load. For better weight distribution and therefore a safer tow, with less risk of accidents, there are special square receiver sockets designed for such purposes.
The most crucial aspect of using your towbar comes at the moment of loading the tow ball, and it is of the utmost importance that horizontal and vertical loading be carried out with precision. Even the slightest error here can have bad results, and if you do not know what you have to do in this regard then be sure to consult somebody that does have experience in loading hitches, thereby reducing the risk of hurting others on the road or incurring damage to property.
For the absolute safest in towbars, there is a special variety referred to as a Lunette Ring. This model is comprised of a pintle hook and the Lunette Ring itself, and these are best for people towing large loads and/or operating on rough ground such as in rural areas.
Byron Jonas understands that tow bars are an important accessory for a vehicle, which explains why he got professional advice before buying a tow bar on his vehicle. Click here to get your own unique version of this article with free reprint rights.
Tips To Help With Decal Removal
Many things that we buy have decals on them that can be difficult to remove. This can make things a bit difficult when it comes to the decal removal that needs to be done. Here are some tips that can make this a bit easier for you.
A lot of items are around that can help make this a far easier task. Many of the products that can be found in the kitchen are commonly used for this. Not only can these help remove the decals that you want to remove, but they are also very friendly when it comes to the issue of the environment.
Water and a putty knife can be a way to remove the unwanted decal. By thoroughly drenching the decal with water it can help loosen the glue that keeps the decal in place. You then can gently use the putty knife to get the decal and the glue removed. Sometimes white vinegar is used in the place of water and has great results as well.
There are other ways of going about decal removal. Using other commercially developed products are very popular when it comes to this type of job. WD-40 is great for helping remove the decals that are stuck on the item. When using this all that needs to be done is spray it on the area of the decal thoroughly. Allow it to sit for a minute or so, and then the decal should peel right off of the surface. It is a very simple way to overcome the problem.
There are other commercial adhesive removers that have been developed for this type of problem. Many of them can be found in hardware stores or the hardware department in department stores all over the country. Looking around can help you determine which product would be best suited to the item that the decal needs to be removed from.
Having a cloth on hand is a very good idea with any of the methods that have been mentioned. This could be a necessity if you were to get any of the products that you are using for decal removal on other areas that it was not intended for. These products can cause damaging effects to some items so caution should be used when doing any of the procedures above.
Looking into the choices that are available when it comes to decal removal can be the way for you to decide which product would be the best one to use. There are certain products that are better suited for some things than they are for others, and it is best to know this before tackling the project that you have.
Be very careful with decal removal as there is a risk of scratching the areas that are surrounding the decal. This is something that no one wants to have happen especially to an item that has just been purchased. Being careful and taking your time can help you make sure that damaging the surrounding area is something that will not happen to you.

Tools are important to people in a number of ways. For the casual maintenance person, it often means having a hammer and nails handy to put that picture on the wall. For the seasoned professional, it means having and holding a job, and bringing home the “bacon” at the end of the day. It’s important to not only have tools available when you need them, it’s also important to have a good tool chest or storage system available in order to protect and organize them. With so many choices available out there these days, what is one to do? No worries, in this article we will help sort things out for you. We have identified 8 types of storage systems…one designed to fit almost any need. They are:
Tool Storage #1) Soft Tool Carriers
These tool storage systems are especially made for efficiently storing and carrying tools. They are usually made from “rip-stop” material to reduce the chance of tearing.
Storage System #2) Wall-mounted Tool Organizer
Unless you have a nice big house and garage, space is often at a premium. For many of us, we have tools, but not too much space to store them in. The wall-mounted tool organizing unit is great for this type of situation. Not only do they keep your tools organized, they keep them out of the way as well.
Storage System #3) Carpenters’ Toolbox
A carpenter’s job is different from that of a mechanic’s. As a result, they have different types of tools, and require a different type of storage system. A Carpenters’ Tool Box is great for this profession as it will house the tools, provide easy transport for them, and since it is usually made out of wood, will protect those metal blades and bit edges from damage.
Storage System #4) Mechanics’ Toolbox
These tool storage systems are especially made for storing and transporting mechanics’ tools. They are usually constructed out of metal or high-impact resin. The best versions of this system have drawer trays and drawer liners.
Storage System #5) Compartment Parts Box
If you have a lot of small parts and accessories that need to be organized, we have found something ideal for you. These tool storage systems are especially made for storing:
a) Small tools
b) Bits
c) Saw and Knife Blades
d) Commonly used parts
e) Those Small Nails
f) Tiny Screws
These units are usually made out of metal (or high-impact resin). Some models have adjustable compartments.
Tool Storage #6) Tool Chest for a Mechanic
Made especially for storing the specific tools that a mechanic needs on the job, they are usually made out of high-impact resin or metal (for extra durability). Some of these chests have wheels so that they can be moved easily around the garage.
Storage Device #7) The Gang Box
If you have a lot of tools that you need to move around the job site, these storage systems are idea. They are usually made out of very durable materials, like metal or high-impact resin. Most of these systems have locking tops to ensure that tools do not “walk off”.
Storage System #8) Truck Box
If you have a truck, these storage systems are great for not only storing your tools, but transporting them to and fro. They are usually made out of steel, high-impact resin, or aluminum. Since these systems are fitted onto the back of a truck, they are usually equipped with locking tops to ensure tool safety.
